Nakiri knives are vegetable knives originating from Japan, and they have thinner, heavier blades, and look similar to cleavers. Their blades are angled from both sides, making it easier for them to cut straight, precise slices of vegetables. They might look like cleavers, but they should never be used as one as their thin blade will be damaged if used to chop through bone or any frozen food.
